Turning full circle .

As the recent post on our facebook page illustrates fishing pressure on Salmon stocks on the rivers Wye ,Usk & Severn has turned full circle.

Fishing catch & release angling will now kill more salmon each season than what remains (and there is next to nothing ) of traditional salmon fishing on the Severn estuary.

Method of fishing ,catching and playing ,water temp. river conditions & handling the fish all play their part in the salmons chances of survival and it's chance of reaching it's spawning grounds after capture.

Opinions are divided over the survival rate but one thing is certain , with the conditions on our local rivers this year a high percentage would not survive capture.

We have questioned why anglers who proport to be conservationists would even consider fishing the back end of their season let alone actually fish (as we have witnessed on the Wye ) .
