A decision has been made by our group to accept the terms demanded by NRW under protest. We feel that the HRA is spurious in the extreme ,the conclusion of it was made prior to the HRA , it is wrong that anglers fishing for the same fish are not subject to a HRA ,a totally prejudicial ruling . We believe we have no significant impact on stock whatsoever. Not fishing in 2020 destroyed our fishery accepting the terms will have the same effect . It will also destroy all built ar
So after we offered N.R.W. to reduce our maximum take for the season for the group from 15 to 5 salmon if allowed to keep those fish keeping our fishery alive this has been rejected by them . The carried our a H.R.A. on our impact . We fish on the Severn estuary but they conclude "If our fish come from the Wye & Usk " our impact might be 0.08 % of stock "worst case scenario" ........... no one at NRW could look anyone in the eye and say this "Impact " is in anyway significan
Incredibly our fishery is subject to a Habitat regulations assessment . Yet the fishery which now has by far the greatest impact on salmon stock (Even if it is fishing C&R ) the angling fisheries on our rivers IS NOT SUBJECT TO A H.R.A............ these are the same fish. One rule for one another for the other. Prejudicial and unfair .
This particular episode with NRW has worn on for around 4 years............2017 we applied to renew our "Welsh assembly lease " what should have been a relatively simple affair (And we were told buy NRW at the start should be ) wore on until weeks before the start of our 2018 season when NRW unexpectedly added 2 new clauses to our lease ...........2019 NRW withheld our licence to fish until the day before the season started ( the run up to that date involved another fight )
Our letter and plea for the future of our fishery and all it represents to the N.R.W. chief executive , including our 5000 plus signatures against further restrictions to our fishery seems to have fallen on deaf ears..........passed down the line for a response we have received a letter which ignores the strength of support we have and mirrors previous NRW fisheries letters which ignore our concerns. Disappointing indeed. Full video can be seen on our facebook page. ......Sto
