The river Usk

Recent press releases by NRW and comment by river Usk interests say that the river Usk salmon stock is at an all time low.

Perhaps it is time to suspend the angling effort for salmon on this river for say 10 years to help this stock recover.

A recent suggestion by our fishery is to issue licences for each river allowing a Habitats regulations assessment to be undertaken for each river .

That way the river & stock could be micro managed .

If the Salmon stock on the Usk is in such a desperate state why would anglers continue to kill salmon indirectly by catching ,playing & handling the fish .
