2022 lave netting season

1st June 2022 is the first day of our lave net fishing season ,normally a reason for celebration. NRW have again ruled that taking a handful of salmon from the severn estuary is a threat to stocks on the rivers that feed the estuary.

They rule this yet sell unlimited amounts of angling licences to fish for salmon.........which indirectly kills salmon through anglers catching ,playing ,handling & photographing salmon.

Of course this fishery is not subject to the same HRA that we are...........

Sadly once again effort will drop by 90 % and it will be a rare sight to see a lave net fisherman fishing or our visitor center / net house open .
