2008 .A defining year in the history of our lave net fishery.
As folk have been asked to look at our web site , see previous blog........ By all means please check out our face book page to for a broader view of our lave net fishery also.
We became the 1st to agree to a formal salmon catch limit . 5 per month for the entire fishery .(3 month season ) If or when we reach the limit we stop fishing .
The 1st in wales to agree carcass tagging
The 1st to agree formally not to sell our salmon .
The 1st to fill in the new / catch effort log book.
Previously were the first to actively promote the fishery as a tourism / heritage site inviting folk to watch the fishing.
Built a net house to welcome visitors & use as base.
ALL OTHER TRADITIONAL SALMON FISHERIES ON THE WELSH REGION OF THE SEVERN ESTUARY HAVE BEEN CLOSED DOWN , WE ARE THE LAST . Reading a particular submission in evidence to the forthcoming inquiry & other letters to the environment agency by the same individual one would think there was salmon fishing on an industrial scale still taking place on the severn estuary.
