££££ or the welfare of salmon
The standing advice from The WYE & USK foundation on 2nd of September is that "Water temps on all catchments are now at safe levels for Salmonid fishing " .............. The green light was given to fish (for salmon ) on the river USK on 19th August........
This was issued days after our last river Wye trip where we recorded dead and dying salmon on the river...............
Current advice (which is welcome and well advised we feel allowing for what we have witnessed in the past months ) from a different group The WYE SALMON ASSOCIATION is that the season should END RIGHT NOW to give any surviving salmon a chance to reach the head waters to spawn.
Conflicting guidance at best from those that proport to care for the welfare of salmon. Perhaps true colours are emerging here ??
You have to also ask why the EA & NRW have not stepped in here and ended the season when events were unfolding months ago ???? . ........
SHAMBLES .
Stop press . WUF Facebook page have now removed this post regarding advice fishing for "Salmonid's " can resume.........
