Rob Evans ,Richard Morgan and Martin Morgan spent all day Saturday replacing the washed out stones and repointing. This storm damage if left would get worse very quickly ,the old slip is part of our heritage and is also on the welsh coastal path . We are pleased with our efforts !
Three consecutive storms have left the slip at Black rock in a poor state with stones torn out of place. Left like this it would just get worse. This is right on the welsh coastal path and looks terrible. Our fishermen intend to sort it out soon.
A stroll along the foreshore today and found this lot in the groynes off Redwick (outside of our fishing grounds ) . Gill netting in the Usk perhaps ? The gill net had otter boards on it and quite a large mesh. Taken , photographed and burnt .
A phone call to say that our fishery boat and trailer have been stolen from our compound at Black Rock over Christmas. The boat was restored by us after she was washed up and smashed on the rocks over 15 years ago. A great loss. Facebook has been a revelation here with huge support in our quest to find our stolen property . Deep keel ,hardwood gunnel . SALAR 2 . Snipe roller coaster trailer ,over painted.
2018 is the wales year of the sea . We will this season more than ever help connect people with the sea ,our very own " SEVERN SEA " . Monmouthshires very own section of sea has so much to offer all , not just fishermen and we will try to showcase this in our own ways . The fishery over the past several years has undertaken hundreds of proactive measures to promote the lave net fishing , Wales and Monmouthshire .
